<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Another peculiar thing to me is that I’ve never known the mines to allow photo documentation of their sites other than for their own use.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The mines are virtually governed by an incredibly strict organization called MSHA(mine safety and health administration).<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Even though it’s just called safety and health they control everything that is conducted on any minesite in the U.S.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></span></div><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">The key aspect of this was the connection that the process of the ore creates among two nations that have very little in common. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>One thing about art is it doesn’t have to focus on beauty or nature; it can simply be something that makes you think.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>This work intrigues its viewers even with mundane assembly line type of industry.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></span></div>coxb14http://www.blogger.com/profile/03232437633745893601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-746005185057737375.post-1160147294962886602011-04-28T21:15:00.000-07:002011-05-05T12:15:59.686-07:00minigolf 1<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Hv3uWJF4On0/TcL2ErzcUuI/AAAAAAAAACw/0cZhrIWb16M/s1600/golf1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="222" j8="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Hv3uWJF4On0/TcL2ErzcUuI/AAAAAAAAACw/0cZhrIWb16M/s320/golf1.png" width="320" /></a></div><br />

Here is my first little stab at the mini golf hole. I wasn't really sure how complex we should be with the actual pepakura construction so I designed a simple base for the hole and i will decorate and add to this with objects. my theme could go a few directions at this point. currently because I went with a pramid shape at the center, i'm iclined to make an egyptian/desert theme.coxb14http://www.blogger.com/profile/03232437633745893601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-746005185057737375.post-3766878471244635822011-03-23T02:00:00.000-07:002011-03-23T02:00:23.503-07:003D modeling pt.1<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-0p1SFR43-7k/TYm1IFB-WBI/AAAAAAAAACU/Maicw3JGdL8/s1600/sketch1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="223" r6="true" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-0p1SFR43-7k/TYm1IFB-WBI/AAAAAAAAACU/Maicw3JGdL8/s320/sketch1.png" width="320" /></a></div><br />

With this project I had a feeling that I would be leaning towards mechanical or inorganic models as I built it up, so I decided to start with an animal to make sure there was some organic presence. One thing I really wanted to experiment with in this was how much existing models could be changed. I came to the conclusion that the downloaded models all had varying amounts of changable properties.coxb14http://www.blogger.com/profile/03232437633745893601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-746005185057737375.post-17825621396852097222011-03-23T01:51:00.000-07:002011-03-23T01:51:58.917-07:003D Modeling pt.2<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-uphw0bOqscM/TYmz1u-mDvI/AAAAAAAAACI/ux49qrxV--0/s1600/glass1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="286" r6="true" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-uphw0bOqscM/TYmz1u-mDvI/AAAAAAAAACI/ux49qrxV--0/s320/glass1.png" width="320" /></a></div><br />

This model just came together as i started becoming more comfortable with the tools. My proposal for a Second Life performance is to have our self-portrait avatars as cross dressers. This would slightly poke fun at the idea of people using Second Life to be someone they aren't because we would obiously be crossdressing while the avatars usually hide who you really are. This performance could include flirting with people and/or having objects that add to the costume.coxb14http://www.blogger.com/profile/03232437633745893601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-746005185057737375.post-90761248091978020392011-02-08T19:29:00.000-08:002011-04-08T19:43:19.084-07:00SL Self Portrait<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-E1o9wujxCG0/TZ_DMdTB28I/AAAAAAAAACg/Rrolj3fCcyU/s1600/sl_selfportrait.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="229" r6="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-E1o9wujxCG0/TZ_DMdTB28I/AAAAAAAAACg/Rrolj3fCcyU/s320/sl_selfportrait.png" width="320" /></a></div><br />

For this project I took three photographs and photoshoped them into a template for face tattoos in Second Life. The hair style gave me the most problems. The provided hair was difficult to style into my hair style at the time, however I usually have longer hair so I was able to edit the hair to more closely resemble how I usually look.coxb14http://www.blogger.com/profile/03232437633745893601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-746005185057737375.post-81325099125814853272011-02-01T22:31:00.000-08:002011-02-01T22:31:07.876-08:00Art & the Avatar1) Kris Shomaker says that her extrememly altered avatar is to help her accept her physical self. This just seems completely contradictory. Does she mean that she's trying to accept that there is nothing she can do to make herself more attractive so she has a second life to make up for it? <br />
<br />
2) Are avatars becoming a new form of self portraits? If so, Are the avatars that don't look like the real person still self portraits?coxb14http://www.blogger.com/profile/03232437633745893601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-746005185057737375.post-40375913538237842812011-01-26T08:57:00.000-08:002011-01-26T08:57:21.332-08:00HUD Self portrait<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_zR2cJ_YjyM0/TUBRicz79JI/AAAAAAAAAB8/LNEBi2jqweA/s1600/bcox-hud.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_zR2cJ_YjyM0/TUBRicz79JI/AAAAAAAAAB8/LNEBi2jqweA/s320/bcox-hud.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />

</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Tomas Saraceno is an unusual artist; he is most definitely a visionary.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I’ve come to terms with the fact that I probably cannot explain his work in a simple paper but if you get the over-all principle then this will be successful. He has been working on one single project for years and it is a very interesting piece. This work is really an intellectual piece, more than anything, in that it will almost certainly never come to its final goal but the project is suppose to make people think about what it stands for.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The goal is to build a floating city.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The name of this project is “Airport City” although it is much less concrete than the name sounds.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The idea is to have people with their own personal floating bubbles that come and go and move about the city freely or even just let the air and the wind move them.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>In this scenario the city would be constantly changing shape as the individuals move around, much like clouds. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_zR2cJ_YjyM0/TQE0IXKH54I/AAAAAAAAABs/VgzsCyfQ-Ik/s1600/Tomas_Saraceno-500x301.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="120" n4="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_zR2cJ_YjyM0/TQE0IXKH54I/AAAAAAAAABs/VgzsCyfQ-Ik/s200/Tomas_Saraceno-500x301.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">The principles of this city have meaning in different aspects.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The idea of a free-form city floating hundreds of feet in the sky defies the nature of man inhabiting the earth.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I feel that part of this project’s purpose is to break the rules.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Even the ever-changing shape being affected by nature steps outside of the normal concept of a city with structure and built with solid concrete. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Most important of all the conventions of normal living is the political separation. Saraceno’s idea is to live in a drifting community that has no ties to any nation and people from all over the world can live there. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Saraceno has been building scaled down pieces of his vision. Obviously not with the ability to live in them but people can be inside his floating structures.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He has an architectural background which is evident in his work and he really has some impressive aspects in the designs. He spent months studying spider webs from eight different types of spiders to find the best techniques for binding together his structures. He not only has personal structures for individuals but also large ones that would act as buildings to hold several people for whatever social interaction to take place.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>One such building that Saraceno has constructed is approximately four stories tall. </span><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_zR2cJ_YjyM0/TQE0T8-FNqI/AAAAAAAAABw/G5bkkM9asbI/s1600/saraceno6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" n4="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_zR2cJ_YjyM0/TQE0T8-FNqI/AAAAAAAAABw/G5bkkM9asbI/s320/saraceno6.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">There are definitely some technical problems in the way of making these things an environment in which people could live for long periods of time.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It’s likely that this vision will never come to be a reality but simply the idea is enough to make people think about our way of life.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Imagining a sort of utopian society that is environmentally proficient and isolated from any war makes this work of art emotionally intriguing whether the audience realizes it or not. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Going in a completely different direction with art and exploration, we can look at Mark Hauenstein with another interesting style.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Hauenstein has been working and experimenting with video and electronic art for the past decade and unlike some artists, he’s not goal oriented. His projects move along like a kid with ADD. Through the piles of work that he has on the internet the one that stuck out to me was his computer set up to blend, merge, and play dozens of videos simultaneously. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_zR2cJ_YjyM0/TQE0jq3AzYI/AAAAAAAAAB0/fILCnvTbJwg/s1600/291_projection.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" n4="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_zR2cJ_YjyM0/TQE0jq3AzYI/AAAAAAAAAB0/fILCnvTbJwg/s1600/291_projection.jpg" /></a></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><a href="http://www.nurons.net/projects.htm">http://www.nurons.net/projects.htm</a></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Unfortunately He doesn’t seem to have a video of it anywhere and I haven’t been able to get in contact with him yet. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He has doen several collaborative works with other artists who work in mediums like audio to combine for a really interesting feel. The comparison of these two artists is very clear.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>One has been traveling around the world working towards a goal that is seemingly out of reach while the other spends his time in his garage working with no specific goal just trying to learn and experiment. <div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">I really wanted to figure out how to make my own machinima for this assignment and it proved to be very time consuming. I ran into quite a few technical problems and I'm sorry to say I wasn't able to do what I wanted. I just used windows movie maker for my editing and as you can see, the audio didn't sync with the video. Trial and error I suppose. </div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_zR2cJ_YjyM0/TP6VYZAy24I/AAAAAAAAABk/4ac8Iu1Xa6A/s1600/johnnycash.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="237" ox="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_zR2cJ_YjyM0/TP6VYZAy24I/AAAAAAAAABk/4ac8Iu1Xa6A/s400/johnnycash.png" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">For the next part of this assignment I chose to contribute to the Johnny Cash Project. I wish I could show you a better picture of my drawing but I would have had to get a picture before I submitted it. More trial and error. </div>coxb14http://www.blogger.com/profile/03232437633745893601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-746005185057737375.post-26606693291306396652010-11-08T20:54:00.000-08:002010-11-08T20:54:34.087-08:00Infomercial: Stroller-Harness!<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/c2uT0M-sH1k?fs=1&hl=en_US"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/c2uT0M-sH1k?fs=1&hl=en_US" width="425" height="344" allowscriptaccess="never" allowfullscreen="true" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed></object>coxb14http://www.blogger.com/profile/03232437633745893601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-746005185057737375.post-911866615696557552010-11-02T12:02:00.000-07:002010-11-02T12:02:05.309-07:00Chindogu: Stroller-Harness<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_zR2cJ_YjyM0/TNBgF5BfvKI/AAAAAAAAABg/cGZfHXuJ4Tk/s1600/cindogufinal.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_zR2cJ_YjyM0/TNBgF5BfvKI/AAAAAAAAABg/cGZfHXuJ4Tk/s320/cindogufinal.jpg" width="247" /></a></div>coxb14http://www.blogger.com/profile/03232437633745893601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-746005185057737375.post-41466450307655005972010-09-29T15:34:00.000-07:002010-09-29T15:43:01.259-07:00project 3: animation<object height="344" style="background-image: url(http://i2.ytimg.com/vi/M4OjexXAkKA/hqdefault.jpg);" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/M4OjexXAkKA?fs=1&hl=en_US"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/M4OjexXAkKA?fs=1&hl=en_US" width="425" height="344" allowscriptaccess="never" allowfullscreen="true" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed></object><br />

For this project I just wanted to start moving things around and see what happens. It kind of reminds me of the game "Rat Trap". One piece moves and triggers the next piece. I'm still figuring out the in's and out's of video rendering and making the final cut look the way I want.coxb14http://www.blogger.com/profile/03232437633745893601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-746005185057737375.post-61391663448155594592010-09-21T10:41:00.000-07:002010-09-21T10:41:31.403-07:00Project 2 Art 245<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

In this project I attempted to illustrate my interests and goals. The content of the left and right pieces represent what I'm doing now and they meet in the middle where I want to be some day.<br />

This is a depiction of real athletes on a golf course while a golfer smokes a cigarette. clever? I thought so.coxb14http://www.blogger.com/profile/03232437633745893601noreply@blogger.com0
